Course Description:
This NIMS-compliant IMTC Advanced ICS course offers operational understanding of large single-agency and complex, multi-agency/multi-jurisdictional ICS incident management, explaining the specific roles and relationships most meaningful to the primary Command and General Staff. An intense, participative workshop, this course presents significant area command and staff issues, including the planning, logistical, and fiscal complexities associated with large incidents and interagency coordination/management.
Selected Course Objectives:
This NIMS-compliant IMTC Advanced ICS course prepares ICS team members for initial primary command and General Staff roles when called on to participate in those positions in real time/real incident situations. After completing the course, participants will be able to:
- Describe the relationships and duties for each Command & General Staff position.
- Explain how major incidents engender special management challenges.
- Describe the circumstances in which an Area Command is established.
- Describe the circumstances in which multi-agency coordination systems are established.
Course Length:
16 (minimum) - 24 hours of instruction, depending on requestor’s needs.

Individuals and teams who will function in major multi-agency or multi-jurisdictional incidents in a Unified Command or Area Command structure.
