Instructional Philosophy
Every IMTC course is designed using the Instructional Systems Design (ISD) method to transfer the required competencies into a functional learning environment that accomplishes the following:
- Enables the learner to fully participate in the learning process;
- Provides direct confrontation and solutions for practical problems;
- Uses self-evaluation as the principal method of assessing progress or learning.
Adults learn in order to create a change in their skills, behavior, knowledge, or attitude. Our job at IMTC is to help our learners capitalize on the high level of motivation, broad experience, and deep level of engagement they bring to their All-Hazards Incident Management Team (AHIMT) and EOC Team learning process.
IMTC instructors foster a cooperative learning environment because we believe the adult learning model requires both a climate of mutual trust and mutual expectation of outcomes.
IMTC matches trainer and instructor strengths with specific learner needs and the training path of each client agency to develop the continuity and interaction that builds instructor-learner trust: a requirement for the effective transfer of All-Hazards Incident Command Team knowledge and skills.
